Woo no time to waffle
first one is about Skins, the TV programme. i still believe we cannot just focus on the drug or sex. the directer just want us to focus on the younger generation. they r having too much pressure right now, family issues and study. drug is just one way to escape. but drug and sex really help this programme make their way in China.
Berlin and Beijing. the Olympic games. i just dont know what to say, i admit in some articles they got some brilliant ideas about the similarity between these two. but the others r crap. Anyway, really looking forward to professor's research on it.
Rush work.

The last three feet
Some notes of it.
Edward R. Murrow, the famous electronic journalist and former head of the U.S. Information Agency during John F. Kennedy's presidency, once said in an interview that the critical link between two peoples in international communications was "bridged by the personal contact" in "the last three feet."
This one is not relevant: The last three feet is also where the rubber meets the road. It means "the most important thing is".
blablabla

Fish & Chips
Saha told us the traditional food fish and chips actually come from the immigrants.
The Jewish guys brought fish, and the French brought chips.

Crisis Week 4
The first casualty when war comes is truth," was coined by Hiram Johnson a Republican politician from California who served in the United States Senate for nearly 30 years, beginning in the midst of World War I and concluding with his death in 1945--as it happens, on the same day the U.S. dropped its first atomic bomb on Hiroshima

Politics Economy Culture Communication
Full of academic words.
First passage mainly talks about Critical political economy of Communication.
Second is kind of related, but more about the relation between political economy and culture studies.
Full of combination of words.

Everybody play different roles in different occasions.
Everyone's life is a performance.
PS:
What is meant by Leper's Bell:

Two Modules Already
What happened today draw as a list below
Our group in the core module contains 6 students half of them are native speaker who really freaks me out..Sometimes it's really hard to catch up with them and sometime u don't know that to say in spite of yeah, oh, that's right..
Dr Myria Georgiou is Great~This is the 1st time that i find it easy to understand a native speaker after seeing Sharon and Josh @ the welcoming party held by the institute. Although she's got a rocket speed, everything sounds so clear, which is really fascinating. Great atmosphere in the class, although there are hundreds of students sitting around.
Nice talking with Keita(i guess spelt so, i forgot..). He is working on gender studies, and that course has only 3 international students, pooooooooooh.
Everything is getting on track except my printer, so wait!

About Why study the media? ......(Because i gotta do what i gotta do)
So he or she said we should treat communication as a process...so that really remind me of someone called Albert Einstein....
So the communication is a process we can't just focus @ those two points, we gotta make it last and consider about the influence and results (just like the book Communication Models written by Mcuail).
He mentioned about the way to express,emm... how it functions
Here it comes: Who(communicator) says what(message) in which channel(medium) to whom(receiver) with what effect(effect)?
Copied:
Mediation is like translation, in George Steiner's view of it.
The communicator has his own opinion so when he retell the "story", the truth may change.
The different medium may have different influence on receivers.
Effects vary from different receivers. They have their own opinions too. Just like the communicator.

Theories of communication by Mattelart
The true meaning of communications varies from person to person. But one thing to be sure of is that the communication is developing with the society(and becoming a serious topic acdamically); (it becomes a power to thrive the world).
Communication is related to a varies backgrounds. So it's becoming more and more vital for researchers or students to search for the soul idea and acdamic base. They try a lot.
But communication itself is so complicated that it troubles the researchers badly. Through all this centuries we have got many methods and theories. The book is gonna demonstrate for us.
Too many theories...sob...
McLuhan did too technically...maybe
